(Lancaster, PA) – Clark Associates, Inc. is pleased to recognize its 66 interns who participated in the 2021 Clark Intern Summer Program. With participating students from colleges and universities all over the country, the program allowed young professionals to gain experience in a variety of business environments.
This summer, students from 29 different colleges, universities, and tech schools came together to work at Clark. Their internships allowed them to gain experience in Clark’s equipment, distribution, development, brick and click, e-commerce division, and more! Participants were able to learn technical skills such as accounting, distribution, logistics, operations, content creation, print marketing, media analysis, purchasing, and customer service. Additionally, Clark’s intern program allowed students to learn more about the foodservice industry, as well as grow in soft skills such as effective communication skills, teamwork, adaptability, personal development, and many other areas!
To encourage them to learn more about the company and what they might be looking for in a profession, the interns took part in job shadowing opportunities across the company, DiSC personality training, a group discussion on building your personal brand with CEO Gene Clark, and small roundtable business discussions (among other professional development sessions). Students were also able to participate in a volunteer day within the Lancaster area. As a result of COVID-19, students had the opportunity to participate in events either in person or virtually. At the end of the summer, the interns presented their accomplishments before peers, managers, and the executive leadership team. At the end of the summer, interns also had the option to provide input for Clark’s recruiting strategy at their respective schools. Clark currently has around 23 active employee teams that are comprised of alumni from various colleges, universities, and tech schools. This Ambassador Program encourages our current employees to maintain relationships with their alma maters and it provides opportunities for them to engage with current students.
As a result of this internship experience, several summer interns have accepted an extension of their internship for the fall semester, or they have accepted full-time offers upon graduation. The goal of Clark Associates, Inc. summer internship is to set our interns up for success when they leave Clark. Our interns leave with education on both professional and personal development for their future professional careers.
